Commissioned by Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.

First performance June 15, 2020 in Bergen (N), by Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Edward Gardner.

Notturno was commissioned by Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra as an additional movement for a special performance of Lyric Pieces, where the movement “Bell Ringing” was replaced by this new movement. Notturno is based on Grieg’s Notturno from his  Lyric Pieces Book 5, Op. 54, but unlike the other Lyric Pieces movements, this  develops further away from the original source.
